SALVAGING LUSITANIA
LONE DIVER’S TASK Placing Of Explosives London, May 12. The salvage steamer Orphir, fitted with the latest apparatus, is at worK on the Cunard liner Lusitania, which wias sunk during the war off Cork. Under the tremendous weight of water the vessel is to. be blasted l asunder, and grabs- witfl splash into the water to grip her portable cargo and raise it to the surface. Guiding the men operating the grabs will be Diver A. J. Jarratt, who made history last year, after the Lusitania was discovered, by his claim to be ithe first man to go down to a depth of 31’2 feet in a flexible diving suit. Although alone in the depths’, he will be in constant communication with the men on the surface, 'directing them where to place the depth charges by 1 which the sides of the ship will be blown out.
