ANGLO-GERMAN RELATIONS
HITLER WOOING ENGLAND ITALIAN ENTENTE SCOUTED Mussolini Making Capital Press Association —Copyrighx. ((Received 12.5 p.m.) London, May 6. British official are convinced that there is no truth in the assertion of Signor Gayda, who, writing in the, newspaper Giornhle d’ltalia, announced that Italy and Germany had formed a defensive entente following General Blomberg’s visit to Rome, and id’eclared that Italy Lind Germany were associating their spirits.' and .forces in defence of their great national principles. The Australian Associated Press learns that this is now confirmed. Mussolini is using every opportunity to provoke public opinion in England, to capitalise and exaggerate the ItaloGerman rapprochement. On the contrary, Germany’s, particularly Hitler’s, mistrust and dislike of Italians is in nowise lessened by Hitler making strenuous efforts to follow up General Blomberg’s successful Coronation visit to London by wooing Great Britain.
The speech by the new Ambassador, Mr Henderson, which caused such (a flutter in European chancelleries, is being interpreted as a new British move ito improve Anglo-Ger-man relations. Certainly in the light of this Hitler is anxious to ido nothing to offend’ Britain. He is even desirous of pleasing London in connection with easing the tension in Spain. The Daily Telegraph says l : “The Italo-Germian Entente is confined! 'to a common defensive action against future aggression by Moscow or Red Spain.”
