UNITED NARROWLY DEFEATS CLIFTON STRATFORD AND INGLEWOOD ON TOP Three Southern Leaders Win The surprise of Saturday's senior matches was the defeat of Clifton by United Old Boys on the losers’ own ground. This places Inglewood and Stratford (both having won their matches against New Plymouth Old Boys and Star respectively) at the top of the championship table with 1 1 points each; Tukapa, which had the bye on Saturday, and Clifton, are next with 10 each; Old Boys 7, United 3 and Star 2. In the South, Kaponga, Opunake, and Hawera lead with 1b points each: Athletic 8; Eltham and Okaiawa 6 each; Waimate 2, and Patea 2.
