Stratford Club Play

There was keen competition at last night’s games by members of the Stratford Table Tennis Club, there being tjies at nearly all the tables 1 , which indicates that the grading of players is very close. Competition results were: Table No 1, N. Ennis; No. 2, F. Sanderson; No. 3, 11. Butcher and L. Hunt (tie); No. 4, L. Francis and Mr Dicker; No. 5, Mr Willans; No. 6, Miss Aagard; No. 7, Mr Kivell. The draw for the combined doubles took place last night, and the competition will start from next Wednesday. A match has been arranged wttth Tikorangi for the 16th, and with one win each the match should' be very keenly contested. Visit at Week-end. A fleam of six prominent table tennis Players from Wellington visited Stlratford during the week-end and gave an exhibition on th e finer points of the game. The feature of the pro. gramme was the outstanding performance by Longanore, winner of the New Zealand doubles championships, and Burke, North Island champion. Mr A. Keat, president of the Stratford club, extended' a welcome to the visitors. Visitors were present from Tikorangi, Ohangai, New Plymouth and Hawera clubs. Ait the conclusion of the exhibition visitors wer e entertained at supper.
