He is not only Mayor of Monts, but also the district doctor. In hi&< district, this kindly little man, with, spectacles and a toothbrush moustache, brings all children into the world, certifies all deaths, and performs all marriages. He has a small villa only a quarter of a mile from the Chateau de Cande. Mott exerted at the prospect of marrying th e Duke, he is learning English for the occasion-.
