It seems odd to reflect to-day that only seventy years ago there were no cigarettes—they hadn't been invent ed. When they made their first appearance in London they were regard ed as just a passing fancy by pipesmokers; as for ladies, they hadn't learned to smoke them for many a year after that. And now millions of smokers ot both sexes delight in cigarettes, and what’s more, about 60 per cent, of them roll their own. Here in N.Z. the two most favoured cigar ette tobaccos are Riverhead Gold and Desert Gold, and you can roll ten beauties of either for 4d. or less. Yes! they’re toasted—that’s why they’re so good! Cut Plug No. 10 (Bullshead), Cavendish, and Navy Cut No. 3 (Bulldog) are toasted, too, but they’re for the pipe, and for solid comfort and enjoyment there's nothing to touch them. No harm in them either—they’re toasted! There was a time when smokers used to ask where they could buy these brands. They know better now—it’s at the nearest tobacconists.
