LANCASHIRE MATCH COWIE’S EFFECTIVE BOWLING New Zealanders Commence Second Innings (From Ithe special correspondent of the Press Association with the team). (Received 10.55 a.m.) London, May 31. The New Zealanders bowled pertinaciously on a wicket as Hard aa a concrete road, but their success de. pended too much on Cowie and Roberts, the former having another good day. The New Zealand bowlers were ineffective for some time and then gained a grip on the game, five wickets' falling in two hours for 109. Except for two dropped catches the fielding generally was cleian and sometimes brilliant, but the rlow bowling did not disturb the batsmen, andi the bowling was almost wholly left to the faster men.

New Zealand in the second innings were again unable to get a good start, Page falling in the first over. Moloney played out time. There were 3000 spectators to-day. New Zealand in the first innings scored 282, and in the second had scored 18 for the loss of one wicket when stumps were drawn. Lancashire in the first innings scored 314.
