SECRETARY’S THEFT
Probation Granted Press Association—Copyrieikt Greymouth, May 31. The theft of £l2, the property of the New Zealand Workers’ Union, was admitted in the Magistrate’s Court this morning by Albert Thomas Graham, aged 46, who w’as emplqjyed by the Public Works Department at Stevenson’s Flat during February and March. Graham was the local secretary of the union. He collected money as annual subscriptions from the men in the camp but failed to account for the money and left for Christchurch. He returned to Greymouth and gave himself up to the police as the matter was worrying him. He stated that he spent most of the money on liquor. The Magistrate, Mr R. Ferner, admitted Graham to probation for 12 months, conditional upon the repayment of the money.
