SALON OF PHOTOGRAPHY
TWO LANDSCAPES i ACCEPTED Stratford Amateur’s Success Two landscape pictures exhibited by Mr T. Kirkwood', of the County Hotel, Stratford, at. the New Zealand International Salon of Photography, held for the first time in the Dominion in connection with the recent Waikato Winter Show, were accepted I and hung, which is considered to be a I signal honour by photographers, es- | pecially when it is recognised that | the aim of the .Salon is "to exhibit i only that class of work in pictorial ; photography in which there is dis- ; | tinct evidence ot' personal artistic I feeling.” Among the exhibits were pictures ■ from China, Belgium, Italy, Australia, Great Britain, South Africa, U.S.A., as well as New Zealand, and author!. , ties on the subject said they had , never seen such a fine collection ot pictures. Mr Kirkwood’s pictures were landscapes, lU.itled' “The Sounds” (Marlborough), and “Lakeside. Farm," showing a gully in the Sounds, with cattle grazing In the foreground. This is ‘the third time that Mr I’iik. wood has exhibited at international salons; and in each ease he has securj ed the honour of having a picture ac- | cep ted and hung. No embellishment, lor “touching up” of the picture is I permissible, and as Mr Kirkwood is ■ purely an amateur photographer, he ' : is to be congratulated on his latent [ success. ■
