London, May 28. “Every (time Sergeant James Crich. ton, VC., of the New Zealand Coronation contingent, looks at his watch it will remind, him of British hospitality,” says the News-'Jliroi|ieto in relating what happened when he accidentally dropped his watch and wrecked the works. Sergeant Crichton took the watch to a well-known London firm. It was nearly worn out, lie said, but when i't was handed back he found they had put. in entirely new works. He asked how much it would cost and was told that because he was the holder of the Victoria Cross there was nothing to pay, if h e would accept it as a small token of their appreciation
