: COLLAPSE AT FOOTBALL Game After Lunch Hamilton, May 27. i A lunch-hour game of football at ! Hamilton High School ended abrup’ly when Roland Morrison Maunder, collapsed on the field and when carried inside was found -to be dead. Deceased had joined in a game organised by the boys after their lunch. He secured possession of the ball and was tackled, several boys falling on top of him. He got to his feet unassisted and walked up the field, but when next noticed was ly_‘ ■ ing on the ground, apparently brealthi ing with difficulty. He was carried! into a science laboratory when arti- ’ ficial respiration was tried. Shortly I afterwards he was examinad by Dr. I H. Douglas, but was dead. 1 The boy was in his first year at i the school. His age was 14 years 11 months 1 . An inquest was opened before the c'oroher, Mr. F. W. Pliatts, at the sic'hool' Dr. Douglas gave evidence ; that when called he found the l boy j had just died, in his opinion from a sudden syncope brought on by playI ing football immediately after lunch.
