HON. J. A. HANAN IN BRITAIN Invitation To Germany ’ I London, May 8. An address on New Zealand was given to members of the House of Commons by the Hon. J. A. Hanan, -11L.C., Chancellor of the University of New Zealand, and a member of the I New Zealand delegation to the Em- : pire Parliamentary . Association conference in London. About. 700 people were present. Mr. Hanan has received an invitaj tion from Lord Craigavon to give an address., in Belfast He will speak also at London University and at Trinity College, Oxford. He went to Stratford-on-Avon to represent the High Commissioner, Mr. W. J. Jordan, at the Shakespeare birthday celebrations, and this week he was invited by the German Foreign Office to go to Germany, where, he 'understands, he will be given the opportunity of meeting public men, and in all likelihood Herr Hitler. He will visit various institutions connected with education. As Chancellor of the New Zealand University, Mr. Hanan attended the conference of the League of Nations Union at University College this week. Speakers included Mr. Oliver Stanley, President of the Board of Education; Lord Lytton and P'rofessor Gilbert Murray. The promotion of international understanding through universities’, colleges and schools was discussed. Nearly 700 people were present, representing 20 countries.
