PROVISION OF HOMES Cabinet Accepts Tender Picas Association—Copyright. Dunedin, May 25. A step forward in the rdalisation of a home suitable for the accommodation of the Johnson, quadruplets is contained in the announceinent that Dr. D. G. McMillan, M.P. has received a telegram from the Under-Secre-tary in charge of Housing, Mr. J" A. Lee, M.P., to the effect that the Cabinet hlas accepted the tender of Mr. James O’Driscoll for the construction of the house. It Is understood that the contract price of the home, which is to be built in Helensburgh Street. Wakari, is Blmost £17.00. The building is to be erected on a site provided rent free by the City Corporation, while the Government is providing for the cost of construction, in return for which a low rental will be charged! The rental will be reduced to a lower figure if the City Corporation Is prepared to waive its claiin for ihte.B on the property. So far no decision has been reached in this matter. .When the home nears completion a special effort will be made to augment the money already in hand to provide for furnishings. Some criticism ha a been made, chid the Mayor, Rev. E. T. Cox, regarding the choice of Wakari for the home, but this decision had been piade because- of medical adivich which the parents of the quadruplets were quite happy to accept.
