During the House of Commons de. bate on the Civil List, Major Attlee protested against the excessive boosting of Royalty in recent years. He said thlat the Labour members did not want to run the Monarchy on cheap lines, but they were not prepared to accept the standard laid down by the Civil List. There should be a revision, in consultation, to see how the Royal Family could best be fitted into Democracy.
