Lord Inskip delivered an address on the power of the Press, especially for world-wide peace, and Empire defence. He declared that the British public must be taught to acquire a tQste for Empire news: A!t the present time they preferred! sensational tribls and public scandals. The Empire Pres s had an unequalled opportunity of welding the Empire into a united whole,. Empire defence was no longer solely t(he interest of the United, Kingdom. Too much emphasis on the vulnerability of Britain and her tirade routes to aerial attack tended to produce ai spirit of defeatism, not in accordance with facts.
