FIRE DAMAGE
Blaze At Te Aroha Te Arolia, May 21. Fire broke out in the Te Aroha Borough Council Chambers in Rewi Street at 3.45 o’clock this morning, and when the brigade arrived practically the whole building was in flames. With a good water supply available, the outbreak was soon got under control, but not before a number of rooms had been badly gutted. The front office and; porch were not damaged. Plans, furniture, typewriters and sundry books were burned, but the office books in the strongroom were not affected. The council has secured temporary office accommodation in the Thames Valley Drainage Board’s building in Rewi Street. The chambers and contents were insured for £BB3, the to'al amount on the whole block being £1768.
