Tyrer. gave a small party this afternoon. * * * Mrs Betts, Olivia Street, entertained friends at bridge on Thursday afternoon. * * * Miss Gwen Amess is home for the term holidays from Auckland University. , i -; r£i t * * w Miss Prosser, of Wellington, is visiting Mrs G. A. Carter, Regan Street. * * * Miss H. Houle returned on Wednesday night after an enjoyable visit to friends in Auckland. * * * Mrs.' R. Stokes, who hl"s been visiting her people in Auckland, returned on Wednesday. * * * Mrs. McGregor, of Auckland, is at present staying wi.h her daughter-in-law, Mrs. S. McGregor, for a week or so. * * * Miss Belle Mackay, of Woodville, formerly of Stratford, is at present the guest of Mrs A. H. R. Amess., Percy Avenue. * * * Mr and Mrs A H. R. Ames' 1 and their daughter, Miss G. Amess, have returned from Wellington, where they attended the garden party given by the Governor-General in connection with the Coronation festivities.
Mrs. A. R. Jenkins was “at home” to a tew friends on Wednesday afternoon. The hostess looked charming in a black ring velvet frock, and the drawing room was decorated wi h pink Iceland poppies, roses and autumn foliage. Those present included: Metdames G. A. Carter, N. H. Moss, L. G. Pope, F. Bodie and Miss Prosser (Wellington). *. * * Mrs. Baden Bellringer gave a small party on Thursday afternoon, wearng a very charming frock of black georgeste. Those present were: Mtsdames McGregor (Auckland), S. McGregor, N. H. Ebbett, L. Pope, N. H. Moss, R Carryer, R. S rachqn, R. Stokes, G. Carter, W. J. Hall, F. Bodie, W. H. Simons, the Mieses H. Houle and Prosser.
Mrs A H. R. Amess gave a jolly ittle party Ia». evening for Miss Belle Mackay. The hostess looked charming in black Venetian lace over silk, and the guest of honour wore rust-coloured Matalese embroidered in gold The drawing room was gay with red and gold berries and chrysanthemums. Those present were the Misses M. Malone, B. Mackjay, G. Amess, Z. and O. Masters, B. Hale, Messrs L. Osbouirne, Roberts, K. Moss, C. Henderson, and Robinson.
Mrs J. Mark was a hostess on Thursday night, when she entertained at her residence in Brecon Road, members and friends of the Plunket Society. Mrs. Mtark wore a beautiful gold lame gown. Those present were: Mr and Mrs J. C. Allen, Mr and Mrs B. Rawles, Mr and Mrs E. S. Rutherfurd, Mr and Mrs H O. Hugo, Mr and Mrs H. Bishop, Mr and Mrs. J. Sullivan, Mr and Mrs R.
