Despite rebel progress in the fiftieth day of fighting, in which the Basques were pushed back miles |apd Mount Jeta was captured, the insurgents have still failed to make con. tact with any points of Bilbao's inner defence ring. Their artillery and aircraft are pounding away at Munguia, but the Basque army is still intact and strongly defends this vi’al objective with several battalions, supported by tanks, against the onslaughts of Moors and legionaires. Rebel planes bombeed Gladacano, killing 10 civilians. They also bombed the seaport of Plencia and other villages.
