RIGHT LEG SEVERED
Man Found On Railway Track Press Association—Copyright. Christchurch, May 20. With his right leg severed at the ankle, the other leg badly mutilated and with severe cu s about his face and arms Mr Herbert de Sastro Taylor, aged 60, wharf labourer, of Wool. sion, was found unconscious lying on the railway track outside the Wools, on station al 6,23 p.m. to-day. He was taken to hospital by an ambulance, but was found to be dead upon arrival. Mr Taylor was first noticed by the driver of the 6.23 p.m. train from Lyttelton, who saw the body lying between ithe platform and the rails as the train drew into the station. He immediately told the stationmaster, and together they investigated. The man Was skill alive when the ambulance left for the hospi al. The police established that the vietjm was not struck by the 6.2.3 train, and it is supposed that Mr Taylor was ei her struck by an earlier train at 5 47 o’clock or fell between the carriages as the train was moving ou|t of the station.
