Central Taranaki Provincial Executive The annual meeting of the Central Taranaki provincial Executive of the W.D.F.U. was l held in St. Andrew’s Hall, Stratford, on Saturday last. Delegates were present from 14 branches. Mrs. Cocker, president, reported a year of steady progress and keen interest in' the activities of the executive. There was a membership of nearly 420 in the 17 branches. The greatest undertaking of the year had: been the organising of Girls’ Educational Week, which was held in Stratford in June, 1936. Thanks were due to the officers who gave such good service' ensuring the success of the undertaking. A great loss hpd been suffered during tb)b year in the deaths of two valued executive members, Mesdames Belcher and' Wicksteed. Two delegates, Mesdames Cocker and Hunt, attended the conference in Wellington. A telegram of congratulations.' had been sent to Miss Jean B'atteh at the conclusion of her wonderful flight. The housekeeping secretary, Mrs. Young, had been succbssfiil in helping many n.others during -Lie year. Donhti .ns had been made to K.ea.lt’l Stamp fTfhd and: the Hospital Radio Fucd. The executive had been represented by Mrs. Lamplough at a meeting of the Crippled Children’s Association. The Returned ‘Soldiers were again successfully entertained to lunch on Arizac Day by branches surrounding Stratford, all the organising being done as.) usual by the Stratford Branch. Twelve entries have been made in the “Dolls of all Nations” competition to be held at the South Taranaki Winter Show on May 25. Thanks, were due’ to -the Press for their co-operation and to Mr. Clark for audit of the books.
The Treasurer, Mrs. Young, reported that the balance-sheet showed a credit balance of £l2/8/6. Mrs. Young also gave a report on the activities of the housekeeping department, stating that help had been given in a number of cases and housekeepers supplied!. In moving the adoption of the report and balance-sheet, Mesdames Leey and McCutcheon congratulated the officers upon ths success of a very interesting year. Au honorarium whs granted Miss Lar.iplough in recognition of ner many services :c the executive.
Officers elected were: President, Mrs 1 . H. A. Hunt; Vice-Presidents, Mesdames Cocker, Walker, Young, Brunton, Strack, Lees; Secretary, Mrs Lamplough; Treasurer, Mrs Young; Housekeeping Secretary, Mrs. Young: Advisory members, Mesdames Young and Walker; committee, Mbs. dames Frank, Jones, Howard; organiser,, Mr's Hunt. Votes of 'thanks were passed to the Press, to Mr.. Clark, to the Stratford Branch for its kindly thought in sending members to visit the hospu tai, and also for serving afternoon tea at executive meetings. The Secretary reported on the meeting of the Crippled Children’s Association and 5/. was donated to the fund, thus making the executive a member. The secretary thankeq all members.’ who had assisted in the work of dressing dolls for the exhibition at Hawera at such short notice. It was decided to give prizes of 7/6 and 2/6 to the best dressed dolls in the executive. It was decided to set up a committee to investigate maternity welfare services in response to a questionaire received from the Health Department. Mrs. Young was appointed convenor.
