A proposal to remove the statues of English Kings from Dublin led to an acrimonious debate at a meeting of the Roscommon County Board. The mover of the resolution declared that now that the King had been removed from the Constitution, the Royal statues should be removed from the streets to obviate clauses of turmoil. The chairman of the meeting declined- to accept the resolution. The chief Coronation excitement at Dublin was* .the blowing up of the equestrian statue of George 11. at St. Stephen’s Green, also the statue of William 11. at College Green. High explosive was used. The statue of King George 11. was blown from the pedestal and badly damaged. The windows of adjacent buildings, were shattered but, fortunately, no one was injured. Police flying squads rushed up and found a dump of guns and ammunition.
