RUNAWAY RACEHORSE
SWIMS TWO MILES . Didn’t Like Steeplechase London, May 5. Postmark, six-year-ols runner in the Farmers’ Steeplechase, threw its rider -at Monkswood, Monmouthshire, point-tcj-point races this week, raai off the course, jumped into the swol--1 n river Usk, and swam two miles down stream. At Usk Bridge it was checked by Mr. A. J. Doyle, who dived into the rivey twice to catch it by the head. Police Superintendent Spendilove galloped up and rode his horse into the-* water after Postmark. His horse swam into deep water and the Euperiniteiident had to come out egain. Finally, a motor patrol constable came up on his motor cycle, waded in up to his waist, and with the superintendent helped! Doyle to- bring the frightened horse to the bank.
