(Received 10.10 a.m.) Rome, May 16. “The centre of gravity for I tally’s A.ir Force has moved from Northern Italy to the Mediterranean, Red Sea and Indian Ocean,” declared General Valle, Under Secretary for Air, in the Senate to_day. General Valle declared that Italian aerial equipment consisted of “modern to the most modern” fighters, capable of climbing 24,000 feet in eight minutes at a speed of nearly 300 miles an hour. Italy’s pilots exceeded 10,000, and more than 20,000 workers were building new bases in Sicily, Sardina and the Aegean Sea.
