DESERTING SEAMEN
Four Sentenced At Wellington Press Association—Copyright. Wellington, May 14. Four seamen from the steamer •Port Denison were each, sentenced to a month’s imprisonment with hard labour for desertion when they appeared in the Police Court to-day. It was stated by the prosecution <hat the offence, of desertion was becoming too common and was putting shipping companies to considerable expense. - Two of the defendants said' they had no intention ofo deserting. They Were drinking and missed -the ship.
