ACCIDENT NEAR WOODVILLE Motorist’s Condition Critical Press Association—-Copyright. Woodville, May 14. Mr R. P. Milner, Whangara, Gisborne, who was driving a closed car toward Woodville from Dannevirke, was struck by the Woodville-Napier train today at the Papatawa crossing, four miles from Woodville and Seriously injured. The motor-car was struck in the centre and carried 120 yards before being thrown off the line. The driver, who was alone in the car, was nearly unconscious and was taken to the guard’s van. where medical attention was given by a Woodville doctor. He was later conveyed to hospital in a critical condition. If the car had been, hit on the driver’s side the accident would probably. have been fatal. The crossing is not obscured and the approach to it is level.
