SALIENT KNIGHT’S LINE
Salient Knight, winner of the maiden event at Oamuru last Saturday, has an interesting pedigree, being by Night Raid from Raidl Raid was bred in 1913 at Burnside, and produced Ransack and Pillage, two brilliant fillies. Ransack was a smart two. year-old in the same season as Epitaph, Razzle Dazzle, and Queen March, land afier winning some good races l proved herself one of ths best mares ever seen on the pony courses of New South Wales. Raid was purchased by Mr. A. F. Roberts in 1924, and was mated with both Night Raid and Polazel, a filly by I he latter horse, Raizel. being purchased at ths Kaituna dispersal ; ale by Mr. Aj. S Elworthy for 30 2uiiiUas. Raid, in foal to Night Raidi, was sold a.t the seme sale to Mr A. H. Ennis, cf Timaru, for 20 guineas, and Salient Knight was the result of the mating. Salient Knight has not been hurried, and is likely to develop into a good winner next tea. sun.
