AERODROME LICENSE GRANTED. Official advice was received to-day by the Town Clerk, Mr G. C. Grace, that the Controller of Civil Aviation had granted a license for the Stratford aerodrome. DROWNING FATALITY. Thrown into the Otara River, at Ope tiki, Bay of Plenty, on Saturday, while playing in a flat-bottomed boat, Donald Crompton, aged 10, was drowned. Another lad, Jack Dain, narrowly escaped the same fate. PRICE OF MILK. The Dunedin Milk Producers’ Association decided yesterday that the price of milk be not less than one shilling a gallon on the farm from May 15 to August 31. The present price is about ninepence a gallon. EDUCATION CONFERENCE. Nearly 3500 registrations of teachers for the New Education Fellowship conference in July in the four principal centres have been received, Wellington 1070, Dunedin 799, Christchurch 850, Auckland 630. The closing date has been extended to May 25. MASONIC EUCHRE PARTY. Prizewinners at the weekly euchre party in the Masonic Hall were: Men. Mr Algie 1, Mr Bell 2, Mr Ritchie 3. Women, Mrs Anscombe 1, Miss Rowe 2, Miss Algie 3. A Monte Carlo dance was won by Mr Kermode and Mrs J. Jones. WRESTLING & WEIGHT-LIFTING. Laurie Fryday, Waipuku, will meet Herb Brinson. Hastings, in a professional light-heavyweight wrestling contest, probably as the preliminary to the next professional heavyweight bout at Stratford. An announcement was also made at the Town Hall on Saturday night that a team of ten Central Taranaki amateur wrestlers has challenged a team of ten New Plymouth boys to a teams match, which will be decided at New Plymouth, with a return contest at Stratford later. Mr Fryday, who, following a recent exhibition of weight-lift-ing at Stratford, claims to hold the Taranaki title, has issued a challenge to any Taranaki strong man to meet Mm in a weight-lifting contest at Stratford.
