TRADE AGREEMENTS
U.S.A. Suggestion Press Association—Copyright. London, May 7. A new (aspect to an Anglo-Ameri-can trade agreement will be discussed at the Imperial Conference. it concerns a suggestion from the United States that instead of separate reaties with each Dominion the Empire should be treated as an economic unit. It would constitute la new step toward the Empire’s consti.utional development. America's desire for a trade agreement with the Empire, the investiga. ions of M. Van Zeeland, Belgian Prime Minis er, at the invitation of the British and French Govern, meats, and finally the Oslo Conference with its move toward freer triads, have collectively created a situation w hereby it may be. necessary to convene an Empire Conference in 1938 similar to Ottawa. The political correspondent of the Australian Associated Press understands tliKt Dominion representatives feel that the problem is too big and it is too early to discuss it at next week’s conference except in a preliminary way.
