The United Old Boys’ Rugby Club and the Star Club requested the union to reconsider its decision to play the fixture at Inglewood on May 12. The United Club pointed out that, it would have 1o pay travelling expenses, which would not otherwise have been incurred. The club was losing a home match and the gate at Si rat ford would at least be three times bigger. Mr McLeod said .the Stratford Borough Council had requested the union not to play a match at Stratford on hat date. Although the match would be played at. Inglewood it would be a home mat ch for United. Mr Masters said the union had arranged the fixtures so that Stratford would meet Tukapa at New Plymouth and provide a big attraction for the opening of Rugby Park. It was decided to play the match at Inglewood and to pay the travelling expenses of the United team, which would also receive the gate proceeds. Stratford Club’s Complaint.
