MANAGERESS OF HOTEL Thieves Escape With £5O. Two thieves entered the office of the Royal Hyde Park Hotel in Elizabeth Street, Sydney, the other evening, threw pepper into the eyes, of the manageress, snatched from her a bag containing £5O, and then escaped. The raid was made with lightning speed, the thieves having apparently earefully planned every move beforehand. Thy showed extraordinary ludapPy* for the street o.utside and he bar of the hotel was crowded. The manageress, Mits Violet Hardy, although she was temporarily blinded by t,he pepper, groped her way up a flight of steps to a telephone and gave the alarm. Before a search could be made, however, the thieves had mingled with the crowds in the treet and escaped.
