Taplin Cup Retained A strong team of challengers from Hie Hawera club visited Stratford yesterday in an attempt to wrest the prized Taplin Cup, but had to return without the trophy, only one Hawera player, Mrs Hollis, formerly Miss Oliver Kay, winning her game. In the following results, members of the | Stratford ..tub are mentioned first--Miss V. Sai-ester lost to Mrs G . Hollis 3 and 2. Miss M. Sangster beat Miss M. Bright 2 and 1 Mrs K. Pegg beat Mrs Wi.kinson 8 and 7. Mrs F. J. Noii'i beai Mrs Ware 3 and 2. Miss M.Malone beat Miss O’Sullivan 1 up. Mrs W. G. Liddell beat Mrs 11. I Collier 8 and 7. In a friendly match Miss Anderson and Miss B. Songster beat Miss Death and Mrs Dickie 5 and 4 and Mrs H. A. Heslop and Miss M. Whittle beat Mrs Corry and Mrs Davey 5 and 4. Miss Best and Mrs L. Coldwell finished all square wtih Miss J. McLean, and Miss Elliott.
