FARMERS’ UNION

SUB-PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE Sixth Annual Report The following report by the lion, sec., Mr A. H. Hunt, will be presented at the annual meeting of the StratIlord sub l ,provincial executive to be held to-morrow: The financial position is in a sound and. satisfactory position, the credit balance being £3O 8« lOd, an increase of £9 6s 6d over that of the previous year. The expenditure* incurred in carrying out the' work has been on a par with that of the previous year, which is satisfactory considering the activities of this executive and tihe work entailed in giving service to members. Apart from delegates’ travelling expenses in attending the meeting of the parent executive, the chief costs incurred were for stationery, postages, and bureaux. The membership of the affiliated brandies, comprising the- executive, on which capitation has been paid, now stands at 270 financial members. I would like to bring under the notice of members the position in regard; to the Ngaere and Pukenga.hu branches of the South Taranaki Executive, whom, owing to community of inter-* es’tj, rare attached to this sub-provin-cial executive. When these branches were formed it was mutually agreed that th South Taranaki executive contribute to the. funds of this subprovincial executive on the same basis as North Taranaki. So far, no monies have been received from the South Taranaki executive, although thi s agreement was made over two years ago. During the year 11 meetings of this (executive have been held, and the attendance of branch delegates has been highly satisfactory. Your president (Mr T. T. Murray) and I as your delegates to the North Taranaki Executive, have attended every meeting and endeavoured at all times to watch over the interests of Central Taranaki: Also we have, whenever necessary, attended to members’ interests in connection with the Land or Unemployment Boards. During the pasi year J. have had opportunities of assisting some of our members in the valuation of-their | properties, stc., when preparing their cases for adjustment under the Mortgagors’ Rehabiltation Act, and I | would remind members that as your secretary, my services are always available to .any member requiring assistance In conclusion, I would like to ! express my appreciation for the as- ■ distance given me in all matters by Idle president, and by the president and secretary of the North Taranaki Executive, .and for the able and valuable assistance of Mr Polson, M.P., in placing your remits and requests? tor assistance in all matters per'-ain-ing to your welfare before Ministers and the Government generally. I thank all delegates for their -attendance and help in making the executive the success it has been during the past year, and I urge every member of the union to press on in the great work that lies before them, being ever loyal to the union, which is to-day their only hope for the betterment and .stabilisation of their position as farmers.
