THEFT OF MONEY

RECEIVING CHARGE Youth Placed On Probation On a charge of receiving the sum of £6 10s, knowing that it had. been stolen, a youth whose name was suppressed, was placed on probation for two years when he appeared before Mr W. H. Woodward, S.M., in the Stratford Magistrate’s Court to-day. A plea of guilty was entered by Mr Percy Thomson on behalf of the accused. Detective A. JenVey said the accused: was friendly with another youth who had just been dealt with in the Juvenile Court on a charge of theft of £l2 14s 2d from his employers The youth asked accused to I change the money and then gave him £6 10s. When interviewed accused admitted knowing that the money had been stolen and handed over £2 15s 7d in his possession. Mr Thomson said that accused’s employer was prepared to keep him on and he asked that accused be allowed to remain wi h his parents under strict supervision. The Magistrate said he would, give accused a chance to reform and plac- . ed him on probation for two yeart, a. condition being that his companions were approved by the Probation Officer. He was also ordered to make restitution of the sum of £3 14s 5d in such instalments as the Probatiou Officer required.
