Strait Settlements’ Gift (British Official Wireless.) Rugby, April 29. The Governor i>f the Straits Settlements, Sir T. S. Thomas, has reported 'io 'the Colonial Secretary, Mr. W. Ormsby Gore, that . the Legislative Council unanimously adop'ed on Monday a motion for a gift of approximately £58,00Q as a contribution toward the cost of Empire defence. Mr. Ormsby Gore, in informing the House of Commons to-day, expressed the Government’s appreciation of this further generous gift from .the colony.
