An outline of the progress in connection with the elimination' of dangerous railway crossings was given oy Hon. R. Semple in an ir terview to-day. Mr. Semple said that of 'the 250 crossings selected for elimination on main highways, nine had been completed, 59 contracts had been let and the work was in hand. Two tenders had been called, and proposals were ready for calling ten Sixty-eigh’t proposals were in the course of preparation, and surveys (and foundation investigations were in hand for 45 —a total of 193. "In 126 cases,” stated the Minister, “elimination is by an overhead bridge, 50 by highway deviation, and 17 by subway.

“This progress must be regarded as highly satisfactory.”
