IFraser, announced to-day that doni'ulions publicly announced or acknowledged. for the King George’V, Mamiorial Fund amounted to about £12,000 •so tar. The only personal canvass by ;a local body had been made .at Auckland under the 'leaidtirship of the Mayor, Mr Ernest Davis, and the Minister .said he had been advised tha.tl the Auckland metropolitan contributions, exclusive of local body donations, amounted to £5220. Mr Fraser expressed the Government’s deep appreciation of the giSt of £l5OO by the Manchester Unity In. dependent Order of Oddfellows. It was a. magnificent gesture, in keeping wilt the wonderful work the friendly societies were doing.
