The fire, Which was heralded by a series of terrific explosions, spread among the inflammable stocks, including paints and spirits, with amazing rapidity. Every brigade in the city area attended, and only the strenuous efforts of the firemen prevented the flames spreading to other buildings in the blork, which in. eluded Grace Crcf’. rule emporium. Eight families in their homes at the rear of Grimley’s ”aced for their lives wnen the flames threatened to ignite their houses.
