LAW CLERK CHARGED
Alleged Theft at Wellington Press Association —Copyright. Wellington, April 24. John Arthur Rawden Blandford, aged 24, law clerk, and representative cricketer, was charged in the Magistrate’s Court to-day with the theft of £137 2s from his employers Perry, Perry and Pope, barristers and solicitors, between October 12, 1936, and April 7, 1937. Accused was not represented• by counsel. Detective Sergeant Boyle, who prosecuted, said that the defalcations were expected to be considerably in excess of the figures mentioned, and as lengthy investigations would have to be made he asked for a remand until April 28. Tn order to expedite the inquiries it. would be necessary to keep’ accused at the Central Police Station, and he asked for an order to this effect. Accused had offered the police his assistance in tracing the deficiencies. No application for bail was made by Blandford, who was not called upon .to enter a plea. A remand was made to April 28, by Mr Stillwell, S.M.
