They menaced four guests and a lift operator with guns and took £3600 worth of jewels and money. The bandits forced the victims, one of whom was a retired industrialist, and the others. women, to leave the lift at the eleventh floor. They then threatened the lift operator nMith death unless he was silent until their departure. They strolled unnoticed through the crowded lobby and escaped in a stolen motor, which was later abandoned.
