PROPERTY IMPROVEMENTS. Accommodation Needs. Th« meeting of the Board of Governors of the Stratford Technical High School held last night at the school, was amended by Mr J. McAllister (chairman),, Mrs Gibson and Messrs W. J. Polson, M.P., E. S. Rutherurd, R. Turnbull, F. Gawith, T. T. Murray, J. Thomas, A. Ferguson, and the Principal, Mr A. H. R Amess. A letter wa s received from the iSduca ton Departmen* stating that he Minister ext nded an invitation o everybody to attend the Fellowship Conference to be held from July 12 ;o IS in Welling on, and pointing out that the board had to make arrangements to close the school for one we It. ( The Board agreed to the Minister’s proposal. Wi h regard to the proposed building of a luncheon room for the girls of the school, Lt was agreed to obtain plans and specifications for consideration at next meeting of the board. The chairman reported that he had interviewed the Minister while in Wellington wl h regard to extra accommodation at the school, and the Principal was authorised to consider the preparation of a grounds l plan to include a block of buildings which will be forwarded to the department. Bus Service to Kaponga. Tile question of a bus service to Kaponga was discussed thoroughly, anS' it wa s agreed that the present service was not very suitable. Otters to run an improved service to meet the needs 1 of the scholars and the school had been received. The chairman will make a report tin the matter to the board. The Principal was authorised to obtain labour to prepare a new basketball court, as the present ground was not large enough for all who wished to play. It Was agreed to change the meet. Ing night to the fourth Monday of each month. Principal’s Report. The Principal stated in hie report that the attendance had been excel, knt, and the roll at present numbered 341 (boys 174, girls 167). The metalwork building was almost completed, and it was hoped to have the machinery moved in by the end of the month. Arrangements Had b en made to have an extension to the girls' bicycle shed. The garage auilroriised for the *caretakerls property had been erected at thq cost estimated. Owing to a case of infantile paralysis at Eltham, the Elthani pupils were excluded from ths school for a fortnight as from April 14.
