At the Harringay Stadium, Tommy Farr, the British Empire heavyweight boxing champion, outpointed Max Baer, former world champion, over 12 rounds. The most fashionable crowd present at a contest for many years saw the former Welsh pitboy win. Farr was confident throughout, attacking and boxing in good style. Baer afterward said: "I guess I am through with, the game. I guess my young brother Buddy must now step into my shoes.”
