At one stage to-day it looked as if Invercargill would be deprived of ills gas owing to the dissatisfaertion of the stokers at the gasworks With a reduction in their wages, imposed by the City Council, but the men .are carrying on their work "under protest” after their representative had met the Mayor, Mr. John Miller, the chairman of the trading committee, Mr. A. Scott, and the district inspector of factories, Mr. H. M. Hooper, in conference this morning.
