CONTINUATION FOR THREE YEARS PROPHESIED..

EFFECT OF BRITAIN’S REARMAMENT PLAN. LORD McGOWAN GIVES ADVICE. (.Press Association—Copyright.) Received 2 p.m. LONDON, April 14. Lord McGowan, the noted industrialist, in a statement issued to the Australian Associated Press upon his return_from New Zealand and Australia, prophesied continued prosperity for these countries for at least two to three years. This prosperity was the outcome of Britain's £1,500,000,000 rearmament expenditure, a good proportion of which would reach the British consumer, thus enabling increased purchasing power for New Zealand and Australian foodstuffs and raw materials, especially metals and dairy produce. However, it was impossible to foresee what would happen to New Zealand and Australia afterwards. Lord McGowan advocates the most extensive interchange of visits possible between industrial ists, and others, enabling them to achieve what is impossible by written correspondence. He considers that the heads of all organisations with branches in the Dominions should undertake such visits not only for their own enlightenment, but also to stimulate staffs abroad.
