All departments of the Stock Exchange were subject) to further selling to„day, the wildest rumours being circulated. Some declare that the British Government, alarmed at the increased cost of rearmament, ow. ing to the mounting prices, dropped a hint to America that action to d*aimp down the markets would not be unfavourably regarded in London. Also, it is seriously suggested that gold will again be put in circulation by the Bank of England. Every commodity is affected by the prevailing uncertainty.
