i Sub-Centre Meeting. ! The Taranaki Athletic Sub-Centre 1 met at Stratford last night . i II was very satisfactory to see such ' a healthy return from the meeting, • said Mr. A. G. Whiting, when it was I reported that a profit of £ll/12/2 | had been made on the Taranaki sub- < centre championships at New Ply- . mouth. Mr. Whiting congratulated the New Plymouth club on the manner in which it conducted the meeting, and the sub-centre placed on record its appreciation. Criticism of the manager of the West Coast (North Island) Amateur Athletic Centre’s Dominion champion i team, Mr George Benson, of Wanganui, for replacing Miss D. Hodgson, of New Plymouth, by Miss P. C. Cantwill, an ex-Victorian athlete, in the women’s relay team, was made by Mr. M. Comber. As Miss Cantwill was not a member of the team, it was decided to ask the West Coast centre for an explanation of the manager’s action. Mr. Comber was elected chairman of the harrier sub-committee. Congratulations on the success achieved at the Dominion championships were extended to Messrs. S. A. ; Lay and A. J. Mahar. I Those present were: Messrs. A. G. ' Whiting (chairman), L. J. Furrie, C. ! H. Croker, B. Heggie, P. Linkhorn, | F. J. Paterson, S. A. Lay, J. Warner, jM. Comber and J. M. Bates, Dr. G. !H. Thomson and the secretary, Mr. ! W. B. Ireland.
