The professional wre.tlling season for 1937 was opened to night with a contest between Lofty Blomfield, of Auckland, and Don Mclrtyre, of Canada. The decision of the referee in favour of Blomfield on points' after each man*had secured' a fall was not well received, except by Aucklanders, his most staunch supporters'. Mclntyre made his initial appearance in the New Zealand ring and he created a very favourable impression. He introduced a now hold in the sixth round. This wss the “crocodile clutch,” from which Blomfield was fortunate in escaping through coming in contact with Che ropes. This hold is' applied after the manner of a reverse Nelson.
