Wellington, April 13. “Recognising that the freedom cf the newspaper Press is one of the principal safeguard* of Democracy, the Associated Chamber* of Commerce of New Zealand regard with apprehension the attacks that recently have been made on the Press of the Dominion, and urges upon the Government that, having regard to the many declarations made in the past by members in favour of the complete freedom cf public expression, it should at once disclaim any intention of interfering with the freedom of the Press.” This resolution was carried unanimously by the Associated Chambers of Commerce of New Zealand at a meeting today. ” .
