ANZAC DAY OBSERVANCE
Auckland Suggestion. Press Association—Copyright. Auckland, April 12. The observance of Anzac Day upon the nearest Sunday is to be recommended by the Auckland Manufacturers' Association to the New Zealand Manufacturers’ Federation, and if other district associations are of the same opinion the suggestion 'Will go forward to the Government. It was stated by the president of the Auckland association, Mr Ambler, that the observance ol Anzac Day on a week day meant a definite hindrance to industry. Mr Ambler said he did not think his opinion would be criticised, because he was a returned soldier himself. He was definitely of the opinion that Anzac Day should' be held on the nearest Sunday if its date fell on a week day. "In any case." he said, “it is not observed generally as a sacred' day, but as a holiday, and 1 do not think that i s observance on a week day helps people to observe it as a sacred day.” v--
