JULIANA’S PALACE
o An Open-air Pool. The honeymoon home of Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard at Soestdijk is to be a modernised version of a royal palace, but the work will not be finished until the autumn, so that when they come back from Poland the young couple will take up residence in one wing. The palace is built in a semi-circle, and among the improvements to be made this summer are an open-air swimming pool—Prince Berihard' has a German fondness for swimming and bathing—lawn tennis courts and an underground cinema. The pool and courts are to be made out of a former deer park behind the house. The late Queen Mother Emma’s furniture is being removed and all the decoration and refurnishing is being done at the expense of the people of ‘the Netherlands, who are making this their wedding gift. In May Princess Juliana and Prince Bernhard will be the guests of the King and Queen at Buckingham Palace, when they will represent Queen Wilhelmina at. the Coronation.
