Mrs P. Thompson, of Wellington, is at present the guest of her sister. Miss Kirkwood. * * * Mrs E. Buist, of Manaia. has been spending the week-enjj with her moth, er, Mrs A. Coleman, Regan Street East. * * * Mr and Mrs Gaw, Brecon Road, have returned from Wanganui. * * ■* Mrs F. Bodie left by car on Satur day to spend the weekend in Wellington. * * * The official closing of the Miranda Street Tennis Club was held on Sun day. It was a very Jolly function and a very nice afternoon tea was provided by the ladies. The men's- champion thip v.'as won by Mr A. Cahill, and the ladies’ championship between Miss M. Walsh and Miss E. Sheehan, was won by th former after very even and hard-fought sets. Those present at the closing of the function were: Revs. Fathers Kennedy and Kava nagh. Mr and Mrs Mangen, Mr and Mrs A. G. McKenzie, Mr and Mrs A Cahill, Mr and Mrs Mouat; Mesdames Beattie, Sinclair; the Misses M. Sul jivan, P. Dwyer, C. Lennon, P. Lyons. B. Billman, V. Richardson, M. Sinclair, F. Lytiich, F- Lampiough, D. Foley, K. Laverty; Messrs T. O'Neil ,H. Goo’dman, J. and W. Davis, J. Klee, T. Lyons, C. Webber, R. Death and W. Foley.
